What is sports news story?
A sports news story is an article of a certain event,
gathering that is related to sports. A good sports story is a story that should
be written and published that will make your article is of interest to the

Sports journalism focuses on reporting amateur and
professional sporting news and events. Sports journalists work in all media,

Sports Writing
Similar to other types of news
stories, a sports news story consists of the headline, lead and body. The
difference lies, however, in its use of precise, concise, lively, attractive and informal
language because some critics refer to the sports department as the toy department
of newspapers.’ In the past, sports writers were fond of using flowery prose, but
in general today’s sports pages are tilled with better, more balanced writing
than ever before.’

who won, what the score was, and who starred.’ In other words, the language of
sports writing should be plain and correct, for example, call it the football, not the

Junior cricket Competition to begin this Tuesday
The 6th annual prima champion Cup cricket
tournament conducted by the Prima Group and Sri Lanka Cricket, for the age
group of Under-15 will commence on December 4. The competition which attracts over 560 young cricketers
from all parts of the country, including the north and east, will se28 teams
vying for honours in the preliminary stage. The competition was officially launched by the official of
Prima Group and Sri Lanka Cricket at the sports governing body’s headquarters
at Maitland Place. According to the organizers the 28 teams based on district
level will compete against each other in a league competition.
The sides will
be then be pruned down to 10 provincial teams with the best player from
district teams taking its slots. “It’s nice to see teams from Kilinochchi and Mulaitivu
coming into the competition for the first time since the dawn of peace. Having
successfully conducted this tournament for five years with tremendous results,
we have signed with SLC to continue our sponsorship for three more years, with
the view to further develop junior cricket in Sri Lanka” tan Beng Chuan, the
General Manager of Prima Group told reporters.”We are happy to see in the Akila
Dananjaya the proof to our effort being fruitful in producing a national cricketer
and we wish to take this opportunity to thank the SLC coaching staff and Sri
Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardena for spotting his talent and giving him the due

According to the
tournament plans, the sponsors, Prima will provide all teams with total
nutrition and cricketing gear. I addition all teams will receive professional
guidance from the SLC coaching staff.The final of the competition will be
played on December 19 with live television coverage.
